The short version

Some links to gear on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something after following one, I get a small cut from the shop. It costs you nothing extra - the price is the same as it would have been.

Which links

The ones that pay are on the rig page, next to parts that are actually bolted to the truck, and they are marked. A link that is not marked is a plain link and earns nothing.

What it does not buy

This is the part that matters, and it is the reason this page exists rather than a line of small print.

• Nothing is on the rig list because of a commission. The list is what is on the truck. A part earns its place by being fitted and used, and several things on there pay me nothing at all.
• Nobody pays for a good write-up. Where something has been a disappointment, it says so, affiliate link or not.
• No brand gets a say. Nothing on this site is submitted for approval to anyone before it goes up.
• Recipes are not sponsored. There is no paid placement in any of the food on this site.

Gear I did not pay for

If something was sent to me free, or at a discount, the page it appears on says so in plain words next to it. That is separate from an affiliate link and it is disclosed separately.

Why bother at all

The commissions roughly cover the hosting and the domain. They are not a living, and the site is not trying to become one. It is a way for a project that costs money to cost slightly less money.

What happens when you follow one

The shop at the other end usually sets a cookie so it knows the visit came from here. That is their cookie under their rules, not mine - this site sets nothing when you click. See the cookie page for what this site does set, and the shop's own policy for theirs.

The legal bit

This disclosure is here because the US Federal Trade Commission requires that a material connection between a publisher and a product be made clear, and because you would want to know anyway.
